The Grove Action Fund recognizes that there are several barriers to building a thriving and participatory democracy in the Carolinas. Engaging in democracy-building initiatives in the Carolinas is exceptionally expensive for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities. Moreover, it is deliberately made inaccessible for many communities, including BIPOC, low-income, and rural communities. The Democracy and Justice Fund invests in organizations that strive to make electoral engagement more accessible to low-income and BIPOC communities. The fund supports groups that work towards addressing the interconnection between political engagement, criminal justice, environmental justice, reproductive justice, and economic justice over a period of 2 to 4 years.
